Varicella-Zoster Virus Antibody (IgG) - Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) causes chicken pox and when reactivated, potentially decades later, causes shingles. Twenty percent of adults will develop shingles, a rash or blister of the skin that may cause severe pain.
The IgG rubella test is ordered when a woman is pregnant or is planning on becoming pregnant. It is ordered whenever a check for immunity against rubella is required. IgM and IgG rubella tests may be ordered when a pregnant woman has signs and symptoms that may indicate a rubella infection.
This test helps to screen and diagnose Hepatitis B virus infection. It also helps to detect previous Hepatitis B infection which had been resolved. It is also done to monitor the ongoing treatment of hepatitis.
